Masterson’s Tavern , situated in the center of Moonee Ponds , markets itself as a trendy “hipster” hangout , but my recent visit at this establishment resulted in an experience I’d rather forget . While the bar may look welcoming at first glance , what I encountered behind its doors was appalling and beyond comprehension .

The floorboards were filthy, and a foul smell of decaying beverages and filthy restrooms polluted the entire bar . Emitting a scent of a mixture of urine , putrefaction and illness . The restroom was in even worse condition — clogged , with a snapped lever and tiles smeared in what I can only assume was feces.

Many patrons have reported witnessing insects darting across the bar area and proof of vermin in the basement .
